Forums for rice growers

By Country News

Rice Growers Association and Australian Custom Harvesters will host two discussion forums this week to talk about precision agriculture and the business of contracting.

They will be held at Deniliquin RSL on Wednesday, February 24 and at Griffith Ex Services Club on Thursday, February 25.

The forums are aimed at rice growers, agricultural contractors, agronomists, farm advisers and other interested service providers.

Australian Custom Harvesters executive officer Trevor Verlin said rice growers and other large scale family and corporate farming enterprises relied on contractors to provide their machinery requirements.

‘‘Modern agriculture and its service providers of the future will have an ongoing relationship that will provide mutual benefits,’’ Mr Verlin said.

The Deniliquin session will run from 7pm to 9.30pm, and the Griffith forum from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
