Youngsters at Undera Kindergarten have been busily preparing for the town’s Country Fair, making showbags and much more ahead of the event later this month.
Due to be held behind the primary school and kindergarten grounds, the event draws in the whole community with children’s activities galore.
Undera Kindergarten educator Judith Slattery said it was a great chance to head out to Undera and check out the educational facilities on offer with enrolments for next year currently open.
‘‘We work strongly with the primary school,’’ she said.
‘‘We’ve got a strong transition program and the school is very generous with helping us out.’’
Ms Slattery said the kindergarten’s focus was on a play-based program, which married well with their peaceful outdoor environment, complete with a veggie patch.
‘‘We also take a lot of outdoor excursions,’’ she said.
‘‘We go to things locally and recently we also travelled to the Kyabram Fauna Park.
‘‘We also engage a lot with the local libraries.’’
Ms Slattery said the kindergarten was looking for enrolments for next year, operating annually with small numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.
‘‘We do have a couple of children from Tatura. Mooroopna is only 12 minutes away and we’ve even had a few families from Kyabram,’’ she said.
Managed by the Goulburn Region Preschool Association, Ms Slattery said they were one of 15 centres the organisation managed.
‘‘We do liaise with the other facilities at times,’’ she said.
The students enjoyed outdoor craft last week and painted the various designs on the fair showbags.
Ms Slattery encouraged everyone to head along to the Undera Country Fair, to be held behind the facility, on Sunday, October 29, from 11am to 2pm.
The family fun event will feature a jumping castle, food stalls from the local Girl Guides and Brownies, an animal corner, the huge annual raffle and a barbecue luncheon cooked by the Tennis Club members.
