A fundraising event for Goulburn Valley Health’s palliative care room will be held in Bunbartha this weekend.
The hospital’s Extended Care Auxiliary is holding a garden party evening tea at Fairley Downs Homestead, with finger food and drinks on arrival.
‘‘The Sunday tea will be held in the beautiful garden under huge English trees near the river,’’ Auxiliary secretary Lolene James said.
‘‘Visitors can view the homestead plus the original slab hut of Sherbourne Shepherd — where Shepparton gets its name. Plus (they can take) a short walk on the property to the 1841 cemetery.’’
Ms James said the auxiliary worked hard to raise money for Grutzner House and Mary Coram Wings to ‘‘make the residents a little more comfortable’’.
‘‘It was pleasing to hear from hospital staff the Renault bus and rise and go machines our auxiliary helped to purchase had been put to great use,’’ she said.
The garden party evening tea is on Sunday from 5pm to 8pm at 5250 Barmah-Shepparton Rd, Bunbartha.
Tickets are $40 and are available from Margaret on 58214937 or Lolene on 58219182.
