Merrigum Historical Society Heritage Day

April 03, 2018

Come and see how things were done the hard way at the Merrigum Historical Society’s Heritage Day.

On this Sunday at the Merrigum Museum, families can enjoy a day filled with all the best heritage activities.

Demonstrations will be run during the day, including ropemaking, blacksmithing, butter churning, whip plaiting, woodturning, lacemaking, shearing and hay baling.

Clare Johnston, accredited cricket bat maker and founder of de Lacy Cricket, will be demonstrating the tradition of ‘‘pod shaving’’.

Also known as hand crafting cricket bats, Ms Johnston will be running cricket bat making demonstrations with bats for sale and orders able to be placed.

The Echuca Car Club will also be on show, along with live country music by Just Bill and a barbecue lunch.

Admission to the Heritage Day from 11 am to 3 pm at 111-113 Waverley Ave, Merrigum, is $8 for adults and $2 for children.
