High-speed modified lawn mowers revved up at KidsTown, Mooroopna, with thrilling shows of speed and noise to support Give Me 5 For Kids.

With hundreds gathering to support the event, Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association president Di Millsteed said the day could not have gone better.

‘‘I’m absolutely stoked, it was such a cracking day,’’ she said.

Ms Millsteed said from the incredible crowd to the super skilled competitors, everyone enjoyed themselves and contributed to making the event a success.

She said 35 competitors travelled from all over to showcase their skills, including 11 junior riders.

Ms Millsteed said the association’s initial goal was to raise $5000 for sick children at Goulburn Valley Health.

She said the goal was met and exceeded, with $3050 raised through the charity auction and more through gate takings and additional donations.

Ms Millsteed was extremely pleased by the generosity of people who attended the event and the many major sponsors who made the event happen.

‘‘We had heaps of sponsors, too many to mention but without the generous support of those people our event wouldn’t have been possible.’’
